This guide explains how Wakeo road data quality dashboard works, what data is needed for full visibility, and what to do if tracking is incomplete.
Scope
Tracking quality metrics are measured at the shipment level and cover the following:
- Transport type: Road shipments only (full road, pre-carriage, and post-carriage).
- Shipments included: All active (non-deleted) shipments.
- Tracking method:
- Telematics – Used when your carrier is integrated with our GPS tracking network. Requires a valid license plate (tracking ID) and planned dates.
- Milestones – Used for all other carriers. Based on declared departure and arrival events.
Key Metrics
| Metric | What it measures | How it's calculated |
|---|---|---|
| Trackability | Share of shipments that have all the required data to be tracked. | Shipments without trackability issues ÷ Total shipments |
| Tracking Completed | Share of shipments where full tracking was captured. | Shipments with both a departure (ATD) and arrival (ATA) or only departure (ATD) or ony arrival (ATA) ÷ Total shipments |
1. Trackability Issues
A shipment is considered untrackable when mandatory data is missing, preventing our system from matching a GPS signal or milestone to your shipment.
This applies to telematics-tracked shipments only. Milestone shipments are always considered 100% trackable by default.
Common causes and how to resolve them
Missing tracking ID (license plate)
The carrier's vehicle license plate was not provided on the transport order.
→ Action: You or your carrier should provide the license plate number via the platform or API.
Missing planned dates (PTD / PTA)
No planned departure or arrival date was shared with Wakeo.
→ Action: You or your carrier should provide the planned dates via the platform or API.
Missing or invalid address geocoordinates
The pickup or delivery address could not be converted to GPS coordinates.
→ Action: Contact Wakeo support to verify and correct the address.
Tracking ID not found in carrier system
The license plate provided was not recognised in the carrier's GPS system, meaning no GPS data is being shared for that vehicle.
→ Action: Contact your carrier to confirm the plate is correct and that GPS data is being transmitted. If the issue persists, reach out to Wakeo support.
2. Tracking Status
Once a shipment is trackable, the following statuses describe its visibility:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Complete | Both departure (ATD) and arrival (ATA) were captured. Full visibility. |
| ATD only | Departure was captured, but arrival has not been recorded yet — or ATA is missing. |
| ATA only | Arrival was captured, but the departure event was missed. |
| No ATD / ATA | The shipment is trackable but neither ATD nor ATA has been captured yet. |
Note: Tracking data is not real-time. A shipment that recently departed may appear as "Not tracked" for a short period before the data is processed.
What to do if a shipment has no ATD or ATA
If a shipment's planned departure date has passed and there is still no tracking event:
- Verify the tracking ID. The license plate may be incorrect or may have changed just before departure.
- Check the addresses. Incorrect pickup or delivery coordinates can cause departure or arrival events to be missed because the system relies on a geofence area to trigger those events.
- Contact your carrier. Ask them to confirm that GPS data is being transmitted correctly for this vehicle.
- Contact Wakeo support. If none of the above resolves the issue, our team can investigate and manually trigger tracking if needed.
